Saturday January 14th the Fulda/MCC wrestlers traveled to Harrisburg, SD. Four wrestlers competed in the tournament Dawson Blankenship, Danny Blankenship, Christian Kuball, and Jon Gehl.
Dawson wrestled very well in the tournament, placing 6th at 106lbs. He won his first match by tech fall 16-0. In the quarter finals he suffered a loss by pin in the 3rd period. Crossing back into the consolation bracket, Dawson, wrestled really well in the next two matches dominating 10-0 and needing to win the next match to make into the placing round won 9-1. Wrestling in the consolation semi final with a win he would be in for 3rd and 4th; but was defeated by fall in the 2nd period. Due to match count Dawson had to take a forfeit for 5th and 6th. Dawson went 3-2 on the day.
Danny fought his way and finished with a 5th place medal at 113lbs. He stepped in the mat bound and determined with a :28 second pin. Second round he had a tough match scrambled and working hard for the entire match lost 13-5. Moving him into the consolation semi final, a heart breaking loss 4-3 giving up a takedown with 10 seconds to go but not giving up hitting a switch to make a close call at the end of time but fell short. Entering the 5th and 6th place match Danny was confident he was coming away with a victory. Pinning his opponent in the 3rd period giving him the 5th place medal.
