The MCC Rebel boys were at home on Friday as they made it a great night in Slayton. The Rebels picked up their best win of the season while making a bit of history as well. The Rebels were taking on the Adrian Dragons who were 7-4 entering the game. The Rebels were coming off two tough losses losing by a basket each to Southwest Minnesota Christian and Worthington. The Rebels played one of their most complete games of the season but their defense was what carried them.

No matter what the individual accomplishment might be, the team’s goal and winning are the most important things. The Rebels got a bit of both on Friday. Rebels senior guard Cole Bassett was 22 points away from his 1,000th career point. Bassett got off to a good start in the first half with an early three point shot and then a driving layup before making his second three point shot of the game. He  scored 12 first half points but it was his key assists that aided the Rebels in jumping out to a double digit lead in the first half. Bassett was playing well but it takes more than that to beat a team like the Adrian Dragons. In the first half Tyler Groves and Nate Everson picked their spots well. Groves completed two Alley Hoop lobs for easy two point baskets. He also tipped in a missed shot on his way to 10 first half points.

Nate Everson scored six in the first half while running the teams offense.

Adrian’s top scorer Zach Hendel scored six points in the first half but the Rebels didn’t allow him to get off to a good start. Mitchell Lonneman scored eight first half points and he used his size and length to grab eight rebounds.
