SCHOOL BOARD: Discussion continues with county regarding land acquisition

The Murray County Central school board met Monday night for its first meeting of the year, leading off with an organizational meeting naming officers and committee members.   New board members Robin Gilbertson and Lauren Biegler were welcomed to their first board  meeting.

Reelected to the position of board Chair was Dan Woldt, Vice-Chair, Tom Mesner, Clerk, Lauren Biegler and Treasurer, Sue Streff. The board made no changes in meeting times, setting their regular meetings the second Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the high school library. Board compensation will remain at $70 per meeting with chair receiving an additional $500 per year.  The position of clerk had up until the time it was filled by former board member Cindy Meling, paid an additional $250 and Meling had opted for a lower stipend.  The board agreed that the position’s compensation should return to the former amount of $250.

Lisa Rademacher and Deb Bleyenberg were designated to perform the duties of treasurer and clerk for the board. Superintendent Joe Meyer was authorized to contact legal counsel, which will remain with Rupp, Anderson, Squires and Waldspurger, P.A. Various committee assignments were reviewed, with new appointments being made to several.
