Savvy Scheidt met Savvy Shields, Miss America 2017, last week. Savvy Scheidt is the young daughter of Jay and Molly (Eichenberger) Scheidt.
Born on December 5, Savvy arrived in the world in Sioux Falls to parents Jay and Molly. “We each had a name picked out,” Molly explained. “Jay was in charge of choosing the boy’s name and I had the girl’s.” Unlike many parents-to-be, the Scheidts had decided not to learn the gender of their child prior to birth, and the couple had picked out names separately. “On the way to Sioux Falls, we confirmed them,” Molly added.
The couple had prepared for the new arrival, their first child, with the color gray selected for the child’s nursery, and a variety of neutral colored clothing. Jay is a sales representative at Bedford Industries in Worthington. He is the son of Deb Scheidt and the late Gene Scheidt of Worthington. Molly grew up in Brewster, the eldest daughter of Lon and Martha Eichenberger.
Now a teacher at the Worthington Middle School, Molly hoped to select a name that was unique and special, without others having the same name. She had given much thought to various ideas before finally coming up with her choice.
