Dr. Brian Cabot recently joined the staff at Murray County Medical Center. His primarily position will be working in the emergency room, however, Dr. Cabot will be serving MCMC in a couple of other different levels including clinic and hospital work as well.

He has called the Sioux Falls area his home – growing up there before attending South Dakota State University to pursue a degree in athletic training. After graduation he worked at the Orthopedic Institute for several years as an athletic trainer.

Following his stint in Sioux Falls Dr. Cabot had thought about medical school, however had a huge opportunity and  moved to Michigan and ran a PT clinic for a local hospital there serving local high schools as well as outreach work. During the course of this, he worked with some physicians as well as PA’s. He admitted, several of physicians pushed him towards the PA route because of where the direction of medicine is going.

“I like to be flexible and not pigeon-toed into one type of medicine,” shared Dr. Cabot. This has given him a chance to do orthopedics, sports medicine, surgery but mainly his focus has been internal medicine based in hypothology with some procedures in dermatology. “I’ve had a wonderful career and opportunity that only the PA role would really allow me to do,” said Dr. Cabot.
