The MCC Rebels were on the road Friday night traveling to Canby to take on the red hot Lancers. The Rebels started the season winning their first three games but since then have lost two in a row. The Lancers started the season in the opposite fashion losing their first three games but having two straight wins going into Friday night’s game. Both teams this season have been known for their defense and that was on full display in the head to head match up.

The first half of this game was about the Rebels moving some of their players to different positions and it worked well. Bassett’s first four carries were good for 20 yards and helped set up two Rebel first downs. On the second drive of the game Bassett took a hand off and ran 35 yards for a touchdown and with the Zack Aanenson extra point the Rebels led 7-0.

The lead didn’t last long as the Lancers came back with a score of their own on the very next drive. Canby had a short field to work with when the Rebels squib kick hit off one of the front line players and was recovered by the Lancers at the 46 yard line. Canby completed a couple passes, one to Noah Scott and one to Jamison Hunt. This set up first downs and the drive finished on the first play of the second quarter when Nick Antony scored on a one yard touchdown run. The extra point was made by Sawyer Hansen to tie the game at 7-7 where it remained until halftime.
