Jottings by Jerry – April 3

I made it through April Fools’ Day without much damage to the ego. I have had much worse. The cold snowy day was bad enough but April holds other horrors for me. We are looking at good weather for the rest of the week but after last year we know what can happen.
We went to the 50th Anniversary Commemorating the end of the Vietnam War at the VA facilities in Sioux Falls on Friday. It was a very good program and well worth attending. There were probably 8 to 10 people that I recognize from our area, but more than likely there was many more. It lasted about an hour with a great lunch afterword. So, it hard to believe that for me it’s been about fifty-three years ago that I was there. I would like to think that I’m not that old.
I have a resident robin that staked out its territory in our front yard. Sitting on top of a rock about two feet high the bird keeps an eye on everything. I have been feeding it high protein food helping it make it through the cold spell. Dog food, scrambled eggs, raisins, and peanut butter toast are favorites. My wrens are not back yet and they’re being a little bit more cautious about this Spring thing. The turtle doves spent the winter here and several perished. I believe that winged predictors got them, they have to eat also.

Two women, who are dog owners, are arguing which dog is smarter.
First woman: “My dog is so smart. Every morning he waits for the paperboy to come around and then he takes a newspaper and brings it to me.”
Second woman: “I know.”
First one: “How?”
Second one: “My dog told me.”

Women love mythical creatures.
Like Vampires, werewolves, unicorns
And men who listen
