Norman, OK – Bergey Windpower and Gone2Green are seeking participants in a small wind generation project for Xcel Energy customers in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray and Pipestone counties. Participants can realize almost 60 percentsavings from the typical cost of installing a Bergey 10kW wind turbine, the best-selling residential and farm wind turbine in the U.S. The cost of savings are due to a 30 percent Federal Tax Credit and grant funding, according to Bergey Windpower. Xcel Energy provided a $1.2 million grant to the project through its renewable development fund, a program designed to improve the environment and increase renewable energy use in Minnesota.

Project participants will own the systems and benefit from the 15,000 – 25,000 kWH per year that the wind turbine will produce in windy SW Minnesota. Eligible participants must be Excel Energy customers. Bergey recommends that they have at least two acres of property and have electric bills of at least $200 per month.
