Trinity Lutheran to celebrate 75th Anniversary

By JoAnn Biren

The Trinity Lutheran Church will be celebrating the  75th anniversary of their church on Sunday, June 25.  The celebration will begin with a Worship Service at 10:00. The current minister Rev. H.D. Minton will lead the service with Curtis Peters giving the sermon.    A program and lunch will follow the service.

Last week Vacation Bible School was in progress and amidst the sounds of children at prayer and at play adults were putting their heads together to work out the final details for the anniversary.  Bob Koehler, Phyllis Mansch, Gail Byers, Carol Benda and Rev. Minton joined together around tables, a laptop computer and notebooks to talk about the history of their church.

Many of those present picked John 3:16 (For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life) as their favorite verse but Carol Benda said hers was from Matthew, 28:20, “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Carol Benda shared some great memories from the years she and her husband Chuck have been involved with young people at Trinity Lutheran. “In years past we did musicals and also puppet shows.  When we had large youth groups the musicals we did had some doing cartwheels in the isles.  That was quite a surprise for some of our members!” Carol said.
