After leaving the small town of Russell, Minnesota for the big ‘city’ lights, Sharyl Larson didn’t realize those relationships of knowing everyone would bring her back to southwest Minnesota.

Larson has served in the Slayton Public Library for nearly 34 years. A position, she says, has been a true blessing in her life. Larson grew up and graduated from Russell, Minnesota. Coming from a large family, Larson knew the importance of hard work.

After graduation, Larson attended vo-tech in Granite Falls before heading to Minneapolis for work. “I went to where there were a lot of jobs,” said Larson when asked about the move to the ‘big’ city. Larson began working for the Department of Natural Resources. She, along with three other friends from Russell rented an apartment together. “It was a big change,” commented Larson when asked how she transitioned to living in the Twin Cities.
