1928 – Ruth Joanne Hofmann – 2019

  Ruth Hofmann, the daughter of Orville and Amanda (Dale) Jorgenson, was born on December 4, 1928, in Big Bend, Minnesota. She grew up in Big Bend, Kinbrae and Watertown, Minnesota until moving to Fulda, Minnesota in 1934. Ruth attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Fulda High School, graduating in 1946. Ruth was united in marriage to Rupert Hofmann on February 14, 1948, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda. After their marriage, they lived in Indianapolis, Indiana until 1952 then moved to Humphrey, Nebraska until 1956 when they returned to Fulda. She retired from driving bus and van driver for the handicap in 2003. Ruth remained at home after Rupert passed away in August of 2004. She later moved to the Maple View Estates in Fulda. Ruth entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in January of 2017 and passed away there on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the age of 90. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid since 1957 and held offices of secretary, treasurer and chairman of special events for 27 years. Ruth was also a Maple Lawn Nursing Home board member from 1991-1999 and was chairman of four-year-old vision and hearing screening from 1966-1994. Ruth enjoyed making quilts, traveling, gardening, baking and a love of music. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her four daughters: Nancy Rindflesch, Rochester, MN, Mary Jo Tucker, Bloomington, MN, Lori (Pat) York, Lenoir City, TN and Jenny (Tom) Quam, Glenwood, MN; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and brother, Dale (Betty) Jorgenson, Long Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Estelle Cullen and son-in-law Bruce Rindflesch. 

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019, with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating. The pallbearers are her grandchildren, Shana Daily, Aaron Rindflesch, Cullan Nelson, Carl Quam, Joel Quam, Zachary Evers, Chelsie Higgins, and Jeremiah Evers. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
