The Rebels volleyball team opened their 2017 playoff run as the #3 seed in the south sub section tournament.  They matched up with the winner of the first-round game between the Heron Lake-Okabena Wildcats against the Fulda Raiders.  The Wildcats won that match up comfortably and had to get through the Rebels to move on.  The last time that the Wildcats and the Rebels faced each other, the match went to a full five sets where all five were very close.  This time, it was no different as both teams fought hard once again to a five-set thriller.

The Rebels jumped out to the early lead in the first set and maintained a decent lead early on until small runs began opening up the score for the Rebels.  At one point, the Wildcats were within a couple points of taking over the lead, 11-9.  But, the Rebels offense kicked in with a few ace serves, great hitting up front, along with taking advantage of errors made by the Wildcats team.  Though a timeout seemed to help the Wildcats gain a few points back, the Rebels walked away with the first set win comfortably, 25-14.
