“Much Ado About Nothing” to be presented

Come out and see the first MCC Children’s Theatre production. ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ will be presented this Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the MCC Auditorium. Admission is free for this event.

The original production of this play is actually based on a love story. However, Alexandria Sommers gave the play a new twist. Sommers serves as the director for this children’s play and wrote the script to be more fitting for elementary children. The play is based on a science fair – which is fitting since this is an event which will be happening soon at West Elementary. As the classes are asked to pick partners for the science fair, tricks are played and chaos ensues.

Some of the children had taken part in a production in Pipestone last year. Joanna Vogel reached out to Sommer. Over the summer the two kind of crafted a play. Sommer offered to write the production so they could keep the costs down.

They met with Brenda Whitehead who heads up the drama department at MCC. She offered up props and other things to help with the production.
