The MCC Rebel girls opened the playoffs on Saturday afternoon in Hills, Minnesota. With the dangerous weather expected, Section 3A decided to divide up the Sub Section quarterfinals instead of holding a super Saturday in Worthington. The two top seeds, Hills-Beaver Creek and Southwest Minnesota Christian, hosted their half of the bracket. This allowed the teams to be done by two p.m. and allow the teams and fans to get home before the weather turned nasty. The Rebels played the Adrian Dragons, the fifth-seeded team in the subsection. MCC had beaten Adrian earlier in the season 58-41 on their court and was looking to do the same again.

With the season on the line, the Rebels went to the three players who have led them most of the year. Montana Beckmann was the top returning scorer for the Rebels. She has not disappointed scoring more points this season than she did as a junior. Shelby Christensen has come on over the last four weeks of the season to be one of the most complete players in the Red Rock Conference. She has always been an excellent defender but now she has been notching nearly twenty points a game over the final month of the year. Ines Rios Rus has been a terrific addition by the Rebels this season. The foreign exchange student has brought a great deal of excitement to the floor with her unconventional style.
