The Murray County Central Rebels were on the road Thursday night for their third game in four days. The Rebels had solid wins over Heron Lake Okabena and Mountain Lake Area on Monday and Tuesday and the Rebels were not only hoping to beat the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen for their third win in a row, something that has yet to happen this year, but to reach the 500 mark on the season with nine wins and nine losses. The Rebels took care of business against Edgerton on Thursday.

The first half was dominated by the Rebels who came out to face a very relaxed 1-2-2 zone defense. It was a zone that was to limit the Rebels looks inside but as the half ticked away the Rebels found ways to beat it inside and outside. Edgerton’s defenders were often late to contest open outside shots and Brad Schreiber, Cole Bassett, and Nate Everson took advantage. The trio of Rebels knocked down seven total three pointer with Schrieber hitting on three and the other two with two each.

The Flying Dutchmen limited the Rebels low post touches but with the perimeter players score 27 points, it didn’t really matter where the points were coming from. The Dutchmen were very passive on the offensive end. The leading scorer, Trey Gilbertson, a 6’5” center usually scoring 14 per game was held to just one point in the first half. Dayne Niemeyer and Mason Sluis scored from the guard positions but Sluis managed six points and Niemeyer made four three-point shots. The Rebels led at the half 33-19.
