Lorie Manderscheid – Obituary

1959 – Lori LaRae Manderscheid – 2017

Lori was born on August 10, 1959 in Slayton, Minnesota to Don and Ellen Knapper Kathman. She was a proud graduate of the Slayton Wildcats Class of 1977. On April 17, 1982 Lori married her best friend and love of her life, Rick. They made their home east of Slayton where they were blessed with three beautiful children, Bridget, Blake and Brooke. Lori was an astonishing wife, mother, sister and friend. She showed love and compassion to everyone wherever she went. To have known her is a true gift from God, as your life would have been positively changed in more than one way. What Lori loved most was spoiling, snuggling and loving up on her four grandchildren, Van (4), Max (3), McCoy (3) and Collyns (1). She was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at the family cabin on Lake Sarah. Lori also enjoyed coffee time with the grandkids, growing flowers and plants, family trips, and the Minnesota Vikings. Most recently, she had been employed by Murray County Central as a Para for the Kindergarten classes. She was very passionate about her job and had a special connection and bond with all of her students. On January 20, 2017 Lori LaRae Manderscheid was reunited with her son Blake, granddaughter Lorin, parents and numerous other beloved family and friends in Heaven. After a four-month long battle with lung disease, Jesus called Lori home at the age of 57. Lori’s signature gift of joy, shown through her laughter, smile and unending love, will never be forgotten. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and loving spirit will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Survivors include her husband Rick Manderscheid; two children and their spouses: Bridget (Matt) Prahm and Brooke (Matt) Ackerman all of Slayton, MN; four grandchildren; three siblings and their spouses: Terry Kathman, Vicki (Ed) Hoffmann both of Slayton, MN, and Conni (Jim) Baker, Coon Rapids, MN.
