Jottings by Jerry – January 9

The ice has slowly disappeared and we are appreciative for every additional square foot of walkway and streets that is ice-free. So let’s talk about wind, fortunately, ice doesn’t blow very easy. But if it can, it will be here.
We had the opportunity to be at the Vikings last game of the season. It’s nice to witness all the extra hoopla that happens in the stadium. We had good seats but you still watch the big screen to see the game. It was an enjoyable time getting involved with the crowd. The Vikings didn’t cooperate with the fans and the game had a somewhat typical ending.
The days are a little longer now, gaining a few minutes per day. It is light past five p.m. now. Spring is just a few months away. One of the joys of winter is the Dundee Bullhead Feed that was held last Friday. They were great. The fish had good size and were fried to perfection. The crowd was large and they were served fast. The weather was great what more can you ask for. Okabena will have their fish next week and it is also a great place to be if you like bullheads. Fulda used to have the old Fish a Rama that served smoked carp and the draw was great. I was not a devout fan but I could eat my share once a year with little problem. There was a big dance afterward and most everyone had greasy smelly hands and pity the person who hadn’t eaten any. It took weeks to get rid of the smell. Talking about it makes you kind of crave the lowly carp.
Last Saturday, we had our Christmas party. It’s always in January and this year we had great weather. We had some games, one of which was a table full of odds and ends that you made a hat with. They had staplers, tapes, hot glue guns and rubber bands to put it together. Mine was a frilly ribbon tied around my head with different strings of beads hot glued to it. I won no prize, and no honorable mention but I did manage to glue together some of my vanishing hair. I also burnt one finger which I soaked in ice water for the rest of the night.

I wanted to donate blood today but they ask too many personal questions…
Like, “Whose blood is it?” and “Where did you get it?”….
