Jottings by Jerry – August 1

Hate to mention it but a shot of rain would be right nice this week.

Dundee had an excellent 100th anniversary of the American Legion this past weekend. The Dundee Joseph Suding Post #386 displays were great and the program better. The parade had all the candy, politicians, tractors and fun one could ask for. The pork chop was well worth it as was the cold beer. The music was more than good and the weather comfortable. We were lucky enough to have cake and conversation at the old Dundee Hotel.

It’s fair week for Nobles County and we will be there. Stop at our booth and say hi. Opening night is Wednesday.

There are a few folks talking about tomato blight this year. They are a little difficult to find any amount around at the farmers markets. My tomatoes have been limited to the cherry kind although we did have one larger one, early girl I think, but not enough to have BLT’s. Potatoes, green beans, onions, cabbage and cucumbers are available at the markets. The few oats fields we have are ripening now and the corn tasseled out a couple of weeks ago.

There is less than two weeks to the Primary Election and it’s time to make your choices in some counties. If there is three or more candidates running for one position the field will be reduced to the two top people in the race. Choose wisely.

Work like you don’t need the money! Dance like no one is watching! Love like you have never been hurt.

Have a good week.
