The Murray County Central Rebel boys played just one game last week but it was the biggest of the season to this point. The Rebels were 4-0 this season but were facing the Russell Tyler Ruthton Knights. The Knights are the defending Class A Champions and were 4-0 this season with four blow out victories. The Knights were ranked fourth in the latest Minnesota State Basketball Polls. It was a great test for the Rebels but the question became could they win the game? Just how good are the Rebels. Well, we found out the Rebels are a pretty good basketball team.

The RTR Knights are led by Cooper and Carter Hansen the twin guards for the Knights. They play terrific defense and are two of the most physical guards in the area. The Rebels are pretty good at guard themselves led by Nate Everson. It was a great matchup as the two teams dueled in the first half. The Knights and the Rebels went back and forth early on as both took leads over the first five or six minutes of the half.

MCC started to find driving lanes to the basket. Nate Everson scored nine first-half points. All of the points came on drives to the paint that ended with a layup or short jumper from inside of ten feet or he would get to the free throw line.

Jack Pierson led the Rebels with ten first-half points. Pierson used his speed and quickness to out-duel his opponents in the low post. RTR  fell behind by double digits before they bounced back to close the gap.
