Unwanted shoes needed

The Hadley Lioness are collecting gently used or new shoes.  Everyone has a pair of shoes tucked in the back of the closet that are maybe still in good shape but doesn’t fit or is just not right. Please help by donating those shoes to the Hadley Lioness’.

Once collected the shoes are shipped to a Florida company. They, in turn, distribute them to countries that are struggling after catastrophic weather events as well as financially struggling countries. The efforts of the Hadley group is compensated with money based on the weight of the donated shoes.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to Hearts and Hands of Murray County. The brain-child of Nickie Cheskie, Hearts and Hands was created last February. The previous 13 years she had been working with the Salvation Army. Feeling like she wanted more local control, Cheskie decided to create a charity of her own in order to help benefit more people locally.

Hearts and Hands are fiscally hosted by Three Ministries and a board of directors helps with the operations of the organization. “I just felt like when you’re doing what God wants you to do, it works out,” Cheskie said. “People really got behind it. I think they especially liked that it was all local.”

Their motto is sharing the love in our hearts through the work of our hands. Although Hearts and Hands is not a religious organization, the guiding force is sharing the love of Jesus Christ through active service shared Cheskie.
