Slayton was left without a dentist in 2002 and 2003. A group of community members, city officials, county commissioners, and hospital administration, all understood the need for a local dental office. On January 21, 2004, their dream came to life when Shetek Dental Care opened in downtown Slayton seeing its first patients. The vision for Shetek Dental Care was to have it open and be under the operation of the county hospital and eventually be bought out privately. That is exactly what happened. In 2010 Dr. Plotz bought the dental office and has operated it privately since.
When the dental office opened there were four employees: a dentist, a dental hygienist, a dental assistant and a receptionist with a three operatory facility. After the 2016 expansion, there are now eight operatories. Today the dental office has expanded to thirteen employees, which includes a dental therapist, three hygienists, five assistants, and three office personnel who work alongside Dr. Plotz delivering high-quality dental care to residents of Southwest Minnesota.
Dr. Plotz and his staff are delighted to be celebrating 15 years of dentistry in Slayton. Dr. Plotz offers comprehensive dental care including dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, restorative and preventive dental care.
The staff invited some of their first patients to come to enjoy coffee and cookies on Monday to celebrate.
