Red Rock Falcons pick up win over Rebel boys

This past Friday night the Rebels had a chance to play in front of the home crowd for the first time this season.

The Rebels faced the Red Rock Central Falcons who, much like the Rebels, are breaking in a new looking team filled with players stepping into bigger roles after losing their best player, or players, from the season before. The question for the Rebels was could they score enough points to win even if their defense kept the opponent in check…the answer was no.

The first half of basketball was a struggle for both teams. Red Rock Central did not trail in the first half jumping out to a quick 8-1 lead. Sam Helme, a senior guard for the Falcons, got off to a great start hitting a pair of early three’s on his way to a ten-point first half.

The Rebels made just two three-point shots the entire first half with both coming from by Dylan Johnson. The Falcons didn’t blow the Rebels out by any means. Though they built a big early lead, the Rebels chipped away at it getting within three points with seconds left in the first half.

MCC allowed Luke Willhite to get off an open three-point shot at the buzzer hitting the bottom of the net to give RRC the lead 26 to 20.

The Rebels turned the ball over 18 times in the first half while the Falcons were charted with 15.
