The MCC Rebels on Monday night played a makeup game with the Red Rock Central Falcons in Slayton. It was the only game the Rebels had yet to make up due to the snow and cold that has caused so many changes to the schedule for the last two weeks. The Rebels were facing a team that has been playing its best basketball with the top scorer in the Red Rock Conference, Spencer Halland. The game was a thriller and it came down to the very end when a clutch senior would win it for his team.

The Rebels have been looking for their balance on offense the last couple of weeks. Though the Rebels have won all but two of their games since Christmas they have struggled to find that good balance. Not that it’s always needed come playoff time but you need each of your offensive options open so if one player has an off day another player is ready to step up.

On Monday the Rebels would get a great deal of balance. Red Rock Central, on the other hand, is in a different situation as they need their star player to dominate the game. Spencer Halland the 6’7” senior and leads his team in scoring, rebounding, and also leads the team in assists. He is one of the most improved players I can remember in the Red Rock Conference from his junior year to senior year. He put on a show in Slayton. He scored in the paint and from the three-point and in the first half he simply could not be stopped. He scored 20 first-half points never taking a break to rest. He was the only player to score in double figures in the first half for either team.
