The snow has finally melted and the Rebels baseball team took the field for the first time late into the 2018 season.  For their first game, the Rebels hit the road to take on the TMB Panthers.  Though MCC hasn’t seen any live action so far before this game, they came prepared for live game situations as the team combined for a first game no-hitter to open up the 2018 campaign.

Before the pitching shut down the Panthers, the Rebels offense built a small lead right away in the top of the first inning.  With one out, Danny Blankenship walked and quickly scored the opening run off a double belted by Justin Benda.  After a groundout for the second out of the inning, Brandon Winter lined a single to center that drove in Benda for the second run of the inning.

After a quick 1-2-3 bottom half of the first by starting pitcher, Mason Woldt, the Rebels added another run to their lead in the top of the second.  With one out, Cameron Kresko walked and later scored off a double smacked by Nate Everson. With the score 3-0, Woldt took the mound and again fired a very quick 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the second inning.  Following a scoreless third inning, MCC padded their lead once again in the top of the fourth with a run off a few errors in the field by the Panthers that made their lead, 4-0.
