This past weekend the Murray County Central Rebels volleyball team traveled to Jackson to compete in a tournament that hosted numerous teams from the area.  During the course of the tournament, the Rebels played in four different matchups where they had a good showing against some tough schools.

First, the Rebels matched up with the Luverne Cardinals.  The Rebels had a sluggish start to the match as the Cardinals were able to control that set with a 25-10 victory, but the Rebels were able to make a slight comeback in the second set.  Even though the Rebels fell in second set as well, they regrouped and got into a rhythm as the Cardinals took the match with a 25-19 victory in set two.

Following the loss to Luverne, the Rebels later saw Mankato East.  In the first set, the Rebels used that momentum they gained from the last match and were able to take the first win from Mankato East with a 25-21 score.  However, Mankato East came back and quickly forced a third set by taking a 25-13 win in set two.  Both teams were neck and neck in the third set to determine the winner of the match.  Even a little extra volleyball had to determine the winner, and in the end, Mankato East snuck past MCC to take an 18-16 victory to win the match 2-1 over MCC.
