Rebel girls sweep Adrian Dragons

The Rebels were set to play their third and fourth games in two days but what a change 24 hours can make. Monday was wet and cool with overcast skies and some rain, Tuesday was bright skies and heat. The Rebels were in Ellsworth to complete their regular season schedule with a match up against the Adrian Area Dragons. They were looking to push their winning streak to four games heading to the playoffs against a team that doesn’t want to lose, let alone to the Rebels. It was a tail of two games for the Rebels but the one thing that was steady for the Rebels on Tuesday in Ellsworth was the bats were driving in runs and the legs were looking to take extra bases when they could.

In game one the Rebels faced Avery Balster on the mound for the Dragons. The Junior picked the wrong time to face MCC. The Rebels were still dialed in after facing HLOF the day before and Balster, though more accurate than what the Rebels saw against the Coyotes, the speed was similar and MCC was locked in.

The Rebels were able to hit the ball deep early in the game with deep shots by Courtney Schmitz and a home run down the left field line by Danielle Kuball pushed the Dragons outfielders back to the fence. That allowed the Rebels to hit singles that turned into doubles as the Rebels used their speed to get to second base. The Rebels got off to a strong start in this game and they never really looked back. They sealed the deal on game one with an Amanda Muecke three-run home run in the sixth inning.    It was her Muecke’s second three-run home run in two days. The Rebels cruised to an 11-4 win with Muecke picking up the win on the mound.

Game two was very different as Devin Dreesen got the start on the mound for the Dragons. The senior didn’t slow down the Rebels per say, but the Dragons played with more confidence especially at the plate where they hit much better than in game one.
