The Murray County Central Rebels opened their home season Tuesday night. For the Rebels not only was it the first home game of the season it was the first conference game and it was against one of the most talented teams in the Red Rock this season. This was a great test for the Rebels who had won easily in their first two games of the year against Sleepy Eye and Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s. The Rebels learned some good lessons in this game.

The Chargers feature a very balanced team with players who are tall and athletic giving them great advantage on both offense and defense. The Chargers full court press caused problems for the Rebels from the opening jump. Westbrook/Walnut Grove jumped out to a 12-0 lead with all five starters scoring in the first few minutes of the game. MCC’s turnovers put the Chargers in great position to score easy baskets.

When the Rebels did get up a shot, the Chargers pushed it quickly back up the floor to get quick shots. WWG did the same thing to the Rebels as the Rebels did last week to both Sleepy Eye and St. Mary’s. Anthony Ross led the Chargers with 12 first half points and sophomore post player Parker Freeberg scored 10.
