Once again utilizing the formula of an exceptional first-place performance from state-ranked Morgan Gehl, along with balanced finishes from the rest of the Murray County Central / Fulda varsity girls’ cross country team, the Rebels earned another team victory last Thursday, October 4.

Running on a flat and fast 5,000-meter course at Olivia in an eight-team meet hosted by BOLD (Bird Island-Olivia-Lake Lillian), the MCC / F girls tallied a winning score of 40 points (1-4-7-11-17), claiming a huge 21-point victory over Paynesville Area (3-5-10-20-23) which had a score of 61.

Springfield / Cedar Mountain was third with 103 points, winning a sixth-runner tiebreaker over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop which had the same score through five runners. Redwood Valley (111) was fifth, followed by Holy Family Catholic (120) and host BOLD / Buffalo Lake-Hector (141). The combination of MACCRAY and Renville County West was incomplete.

Leading the Rebels victory was sophomore Morgan Gehl, who is maintaining her fourth-place ranking among all Minnesota Class A girls. Gehl won her sixth consecutive individual meet title in impressive fashion, clocking a personal record (PR) time of 17:55.28 over the 3.1 miles.
