MCC Rebel boys victorious over Fulda Raiders

The MCC Rebel boys opened the week on the road Tuesday night with a game in Fulda. The Rebels met earlier this season with the Rebels getting a double digit win in Slayton. The Raiders have been playing good basketball and scoring lots of points as of late. The Rebels were hoping their defense would slow down the Raiders’ scoring, and their post play could give them the points they needed for a win.

The Rebels started slowly, but the MCC defense was the difference maker against the high scoring Raiders.

One of the things that makes the Fulda Raiders one of the toughest teams to stop is also one of the things that leaves them vulnerable. The Raiders don’t have a lot of size on their team. That means big guys have to chase them on the perimeter or play a zone which sets up the Raiders good shooters. On the other hand, on defense the lack of size can leave the Raiders at a big disadvantage if their opponents get the ball into the low post. The Raiders’ strengths and weaknesses were easily seen in this game. Their top two scorers are Mathias Kunerth and Dalton Slinger. Kunerth is a 6’3” forward who is very good at dribbling past taller players using his quickness to score. He scored 12 points in the first half. Dalton Slinger is a 6’2” guard known for his shooting. Slinger scored eight first half points for Fulda. The issue was only one other point was scored in the first 18 minutes.
