As the season draws closer to the end, the Rebels still have quite a few games left to play, especially against teams in the conference.  On Tuesday, May 15, the Rebels hosted the Adrian Area Dragons for another conference doubleheader where both teams took a win on the day.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Rebels had the edge, but the Dragons took over with a big inning.  Both teams were locked in a pitcher’s dual through the first two innings until the bottom of the third inning when the Rebels broke the scoreless streak.  With one out in the inning, Cameron Kresko lined a single up the middle and stole second base shortly after.  A short while later with two outs, Justin Benda crushed a two-run home run to the left field fence that gave MCC a 2-0 lead.

Despite the big home run by Benda, the Dragons came back in the top of the fourth and took the lead away.  A single, a walk, and a hit batter quickly loaded up the bases for the Dragons with no one out in the inning.  A sharp single to right with the bases loaded brought home one run for them, but kept the bases loaded.  Two pitches later, two more Dragon runs stepped across home plate when a double was smacked to the left-center gap.  With the lead now 3-2 in favor of the Dragons, they added one more on a single up the middle.  Though there were still threats on the bases, the Rebels used a big double play to get out of the inning.
