The MCC Rebel boys were back at home last week looking to end a two game losing streak and bounce back off a poor performance against the Fulda Raiders. The Rebels hosted the Ellsworth Panthers in a Red Rock Conference match up. The Panthers this season are short on upper classmen. With just two seniors and one junior on the roster the Panthers have to play sophomores and freshmen at the varsity level and they are not ready for that type of competition.

When describing this game to someone who wasn’t there to see it, the term one-sided comes to mind. The Rebels played everyone on their roster in the first half of play, not just late in the game. MCC jumped out to a 12-0 lead over the first few minutes and by the 9:00 minute mark in the first half the Rebels had scored 30 points. MCC didn’t finish the half well on offense as they missed too many easy makeable shots but the Rebels were no doubt in control. Tyler Groves and Brad Schreiber combined for the first 12 points of the game. Groves with the first six then Schreiber with two three’s. MCC forced ten first half turnovers and over half were turned into points. The Rebels were playing so well, Cole Bassett the teams leading scorer, was the last starter to score and he finished the half with 16 points.
