Lynn Knutson – Obituary

 1954 – Lynn Helga Knutson – 2020

Lynn Knutson was born on March 15, 1954, in Frankfurt, Germany and she adopted by Merle and Ardys Eggen Knutson.  She grew up in Madagascar and in 1966 the family returned to the United States.  Lynn graduated from Lakefield High School in 1973.  On May 19, 1984, she and Scott Sagmoe were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, Minnesota.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Iona, Minnesota and later moved to Slayton where they raised their son Isaac.  She and Scott later divorced but remained close.  Lynn was a world traveler and enjoyed learning about new cultures.  Lynn passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, at the Sanford Tracy Hospital in Tracy, Minnesota at the age of 65.  She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton.  Lynn’s greatest joy in life was her son, being a grandma and her family. She enjoyed traveling, history, crossword puzzles, and cooking.  Lynn knew that there was great joy in the little things of life.

Survivors include her son Isaac Sagmoe and his fiancée, Jess Lamb, Tracy, MN; two granddaughters: Avaya and Ivy; four siblings and their spouses: Michael and Christine Knutson, Naples, FL, Lorrie, and Jim O’Meara, Maple Grove, MN, Marc Knutson, Glencoe, MN, and Claudia and Luis Leantz Castro, Puerto Rico; and several nieces and nephews and their families.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Maria;  half-brother Carl Heinz Laertz; sister-in-law Teri Knutson, and nephew Ethan Knutson.

Memorial services held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dale Degner officiating.  The organist is Gwen Degner with special music by Katie Titus Schmahl and Heidi Winter.  Interment will be private.
