Lloyd Bennett – Obituary

 1934 – Lloyd Duane Bennett – 2020

Lloyd Bennett was born on October 16, 1934, on the family farm in Iona Township, Murray County, Minnesota to J.C. and Dorothy Lentz Bennett.  He grew up on the family farm east of Chandler, MN and attended county school.  Lloyd worked as a hired man for Keller Farms.  On April 2, 1957, Lloyd enlisted in the United States Army.  Following his honorable discharge on April 1, 1959, he returned to the family farm and to work at Keller Farms.  On October 3, 1959, he and Charletta Ireton were married at the United Methodist Church in Slayton, MN.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Slayton until 1963 when they moved to Hadley, MN.  Lloyd worked at for Muecke Brothers, Phillips 66, Rupp Construction, and Schuur Concrete.  Lloyd passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton at age of 85.  He was a member of Hadley Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Avoca American Legion Post and the Hadley Lions Club.  Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Hadley Buttermakers, Minnesota Vikings, local car races, old Westerns and the occasional bus trip. 

Survivors include his wife, Charletta Bennett of Hadley, MN, son, Myron Bennett of Hadley, MN, and daughter, Della Bennett of Slayton, MN, four siblings, Darlene Engler of Starbuck, MN, Elvera and Larry O’Neil of Sedalia, MO, Elroy and Sharon Bennett of Worthington, MN, and Gary Bennett and Sue Stene of Wyoming, MN, one sister-in-law, Marian Lentz of Slayton, MN, and one brother-in-law, Joe Petersonof Circle Pine, MN.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bud Lentz, sister, Lola Peterson, and brother-in-law, Duane Engler. 

Memorial Services will be held at Hadley Lutheran Church in Hadley, MN on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bob Ossefoort officiating.  The organist is Paul Mesner with special music by Julie Steenstra.  Interment is at Highland Home Cemetery in Hadley, MN.  Military honors accorded by the Avoca American Legion Post. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-6 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
