The Rebels bounced back after the big loss against Mountain Lake Area.  MCC and the Heron Lake Wildcats battled closely in the contest played on Thursday, May 4 and despite a late rally by the Wildcats, the Rebels secured the win in a close game all the way through.

The Rebels got on the board in the bottom of the first inning.  A walk issued to Justin Benda led off the inning and Benda quickly stole second setting himself up into scoring position.  After two outs were recorded, Matt McNab grounded a single to the left side that allowed Benda to score the opening run from second for the Rebels.

The Wildcats tied the game at one run in the top of the second inning when Ethan Becker scored on a wild pitch.  Later that inning, the Rebels pulled away a bit as they added three runs of their own.  An error in the field allowed Brandon Winter to reach first and he quickly moved to second when Spencer Wajer hit a one out single.  A few pitches later, Benda singled to right and scored Winter from second base to retake the lead.  After a strikeout, Kellan Johnson singled to center plating both Benda and Wajer to give the Rebels a 4-1 lead.
