Golf season underway

Pierson, Hamman earn medalist honors

Fore… The Murray County Central golf season is underway. The Rebel squad was scheduled to host their first meet last Tuesday, April 2nd, however, Mother Nature had other plans for the Slayton County Club as Beaver Creek expanded and spilled over on to the course. Therefore MCC’s meet was held in Fulda with Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda and Red Rock Central.

Medalists for the meet were Jack Pierson shooting a 42 – two strokes under second place Cory Renneke’s 44. Meanwhile, Abby Hamman came in with a 43 and Cierra Tutt earned second with t 48. The girls claimed top honors tallying a 194 with HLO/Fulda second at 257 and RRC with 302. On the boys’ side, HLO/Fulda earned the top spot with a team score of 187. MCC notched a 215 for second followed by RRC’s 225.

The MCC girls had a nice day on the course despite the cold and wind. Cierra Tutt stroked a 48 with Paige Behrends coming in with a 51. One stroke behind her was Amber Boock’s 52. Kylie Frisk finished the day with a 58 while Vanessa Dahlgren chipped at 65.
