Gabe Smit, son of Tim Smit and Amy Totzke, qualified for the Minnesota State High School Cross Country meet at the Section 3AA Championships by placing sixth overall (First Prior Lake runner) with a time of 16:33:50 for the 5000 meter race.
Gabe knocked off 26 seconds, from his previous personal best time, at this challenging course in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
He was in 10th place at the 4500 meter mark and picked off four runners in the last 500 meters securing his place individually at the state cross country meet next week, November 4.
Gabe’s team (Prior Lake, MN) placed second overall and also qualified for the state meet next week.
