After the loss to Mountain Lake Area, the Rebels looked to bounce back against another conference opponent in the Heron Lake – Okabena Wildcats.  Though two different lead changes happened in the game, a five-run fifth inning helped the Rebels to a 10-6 victory over the Wildcats.

The Rebels got the scoring started early in the bottom of the first inning.  Brooklyne Miller drew a four pitch walk and moved to second on a single hit by Camryn Boerboom.  Both Miller and Boerboom stole the base ahead of them that put two runners into scoring position.  A ground ball back to the pitcher hit by Amanda Muecke allowed Miller to score the first run of the game and allowed Boerboom to move to third on the out.

MacKenzie DeLong smacked a line drive single to right shortly after to plate the second run for the Rebels.  DeLong gained second base on another ground ball out to the pitcher and quickly scored MCC’s third run of the inning when Danielle Kuball hit a single back up the middle.  Kuball also scored in the inning on a Montana Beckmann single later that gave MCC a 4-0 lead right away.

Both teams had a scoreless second inning, but the Wildcats came out with an offensive attack in the top of the third that gave themselves the lead.  Two hits, along with a few walks and errors, allowed the Wildcats to plate five runs in the third inning that gave them a 5-4 lead.
