receives Department of Natural Resources service award for habitat work
Recently John Beech, Slayton, was recognized by the DNR for his outstanding effort on behalf of the DNR for behind the scenes work with habitat development.

Habitat development is John Beech’s passion. Ken Varland, Regional Wildlife Manager nominated Beech for the award. The nomination included the following: John consistently produces a large volume of high-quality work.  In addition to his usual habitat development and maintenance duties John once again was the lead worker in overseeing the harvest, drying, cleaning, and bagging of over 11,800 pounds (>$110,000 worth) of local origin prairie grass/forb seed.
