Parade of Trees bigger than ever!

November 27, 2013

Open House scheduled for this Sunday, December 1
The Parade of Trees open house will take place on Sunday, December 1 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Murray County Historical Museum in Slayton.   Enjoy warm apple cider, hot chocolate and homemade Christmas goodies while wandering through the wonderland of Christmas trees.

The Historical Society is amazed by the number of community groups who have come forward to decorate trees at the Museum this season.

There will be over 20 trees decorated by various groups, which is a record number for the museum.    They have brought in more Christmas trees this year to accommodate all of the groups.

Each community tree has a donation jar nearby so you can "vote" for your favorite.     The group with the most money in their jar at the end of December gets to keep the money.     The rest of the money collected will go towards Historical Society restoration projects.

During the Parade of Trees open house on the 1st, be sure to stop by and meet the new Museum Coordinator, Janet Timmerman.   Historical Society Board members will be also around to showcase the museum.

Christmas trees will be on display starting December 1 and can be seen through the entire month of December.  The event is free, but donations are always appreciated.     The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
