Veterans honored

Over 80 veterans were in attendance at Murray County Central this past Monday afternoon. Each were escorted by a second grade student and received a standing ovation as they entered the gymnasium.

Over 80 veterans were in attendance at Murray County Central this past Monday afternoon. Each were escorted by a second grade student and received a standing ovation as they entered the gymnasium.

Over 80 veterans were escorted by the second grade students and relatives as they entered the Murray County Central gymnasium this past Monday afternoon.

A video roll of area veterans, prepared by senior Cody Anderson, played on the overhead throughout the program. Principals Todd Burlingame and Joe Meyer served as masters of ceremonies for the event.

The Slayton Boy Scouts presented the colors. The MCC choir and band presented musical selections. “What Patriotism Means” as well as “Freedom Isn’t Free” by Abby Hamman and Lissa Carlson were read.

2007 MCC Graduate, Brady Johansen, marine veteran, shared his military experiences.

Nikki Cheskie sang ‘America The Beautiful’ followed by a video entitled ‘Veteran’s Thank You’ See more photos of the event on page 8 of this week’s Murray County News.
