Funeral services were held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 with Fr. James Seitz officiating. 
1920 - Margaret Mary Clauson - 2013 “Peggy”  

Peggy Clauson was born on May 10, 1920 in Mallow County, Cork Ireland to Richard and Josephine Cosgrove Cummings. The family later moved to Wexford, Ireland. In 1924 the family migrated to London because of the danger to Peggy’s father in Ireland. Peggy and her sister, Josey were sent to live at the convent of the Sisters of Charity.  Peggy remained there until she completed her schooling and began working. On December 9, 1940 Peggy’s mother and sister were killed when a bomb demolished their home. It was 36 hours before Peggy and a friend were found buried in the bomb shelter. Peggy was drafted into the British Army and spent four years in the Signal Corps as a telephone operator. She and Willard Clauson met in London and were married there on August 1, 1945. It would take until March 1946 for Peggy to make it to the United States and her home in Hadley, Minnesota. A niece Karen Clauson Burch was born that same year and was the recipient of the baby shawl that Peggy knitted while crossing the ocean. Peggy worked at the ASC office in Slayton, Minnesota for 20 years. She and Willard spent many winters in Arizona. Willard passed away on August 6, 1990. In 1992 Peggy moved to Slayton. In June 2013 due to failing health Peggy became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton and passed away there on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the age of 93. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton where she sang in the church choir and was active with the W.C.C.W.  eggy enjoyed knitting, traveling and coffee time with friends. 

Peggy is survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. Her only local family is her niece Karen Burch of Slayton and her two children and their families, Beth Ann and Troy Winter, Slayton and Chris and Melissa Burch, Fulda, MN; also surviving is a brother-in-law Robert Clauson, Phoenix, AZ and a sister-in-law Luzerne Rensink, Benson, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Nora Cummings; husband Willard Clauson and sister Josey Cummings.

Funeral services were held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 with Fr. James Seitz officiating.  The organist was Judy Andrews. The song leader was Joanne Halbur.  The pallbearers were Chris Burch, Troy Winter, Matt Johnson, Doug Rensink, Al Clauson and Doug Halbur.  Interment is at Highland Home Cemetery Hadley, MN. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton was entrusted with arrangements. To view online obituary and send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com.
