IN MEMORY OF Kenneth Everett Gleason

September 11, 2013

Funeral services were held at the Slayton Presbyterian Church in Slayton on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Dave Hollis officiating.

Ken Gleason was born on February 10, 1920 in Valley City, North Dakota to Walter and Emma Wendt Gleason.†He grew up in Valley City and attended country school.†On January 20, 1942 Ken enlisted in the United States Army and served as motor pool sergeant.†On December 29, 1944 he and Rose Kawecki were married in Orlando, Florida.†Following Kenís honorable discharge on January 11, 1946 they moved to Currie, Minnesota and Ken and Rose owned and operated Kenís Repair Shop in Currie.†Rose passed away in May 1984.†Ken remained in Currie following her death.†On October 1, 1985 he and Gladys Arnold were married in Windom, Minnesota. Following their marriage they made their home in Currie.†In 2010 Ken became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton, Minnesota.†Gladys passed away in November 2011.†Ken passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Golden Living Center-Slayton at the age of 93.†He was a member of the Currie American Legion Post and the Westbrook VFW Post. Ken served on the Currie City Council for many years. In his younger years Ken enjoyed racing cars and bowling.

Survivors include his three children: James Gleason, Savage, MN, Darrell Gleason and his wife Marlene, Currie, MN and Donald Gleason, Carver, MN; three grandchildren: Amy Caspers, Mark Gleason and Michael Gleason; two great-grandchildren; and one sister Violet Hudson,Mankato, MN.†He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Rose and Gladys; seven brothers: Clarence, Elmer, Oran, Arlie, William, Roy and Earl and two sisters: Faye and Mabel.

Funeral services were held at the Slayton Presbyterian Church in Slayton on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Dave Hollis officiating.†The organist was Nola Aanenson with special music by Marshall and Nancy Johnson.†The pallbearers were Kenneth Gleason, Dominik Caspers, Ryan Hubin, Michael Hubin, Tom Byrne Sr. and Tom Byrne Jr.†Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.† Military honors accorded by the Currie American Legion Post and the Westbrook VFW Post.†Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
