It was one chance Monarch Butterfly that flew thru our yard Monday.
It was one chance Monarch Butterfly that flew thru our yard Monday. Hopefully he is the first of many to come. I miss the huge fall migrations when they will cover a tree when they stop for a rest. Only the fourth generation each year gets to make the 2,500 mile migration south, their normal life is about six weeks. The fourth generation gets to migrate and live up to eight months before producing the next generation that migrates to North America and starts the cycle over. The main migration could be as late as October. *** The cooler weather is much appreciated. I could live much better in a climate that topped out around 70 with 55 degree nights. So the past month has just been to hot and this week’s great. It's my week, one out 52 maybe, but it's a good one. The rain Saturday night was great with 6 or 7 tenths and was what we needed. *** The rain garden is close to completion and is already working doing its job saving the lakes and streams from the phosphates. With some tweaking it will also lend well with the other gardens around it. *** Drive with care and watch for school children. *** Have a good week!
