In Memory of Virginia Helen Petersen

Soon after retirement Virginia was diagnosed with cancer. She fought the battle with surgery and radiation.
1930 - Virginia Helen Petersen - 2013

Virginia Helen Petersen was born March 12, 1930 to Clifford and Josephine Petersen. Josephine’s sister Mary delivered Virginia in her home in Chester, South Dakota. Virginia lived in Avoca, Minnesota with her parents and sister JoAn. She attended grade school in Avoca, MN until eighth grade. She graduated in 1948 from Slayton, Minnesota. After graduation, Virginia worked for about four years at JC Penney’s in Slayton, MN. She saved all her money and bought her first car. She drove her car to Los Angeles, California where she lived until she was 60 years old. In California, she ran her own business ‘Christy Covers’ making all different kinds of canvas covers for chairs. She retired in 1990 and moved to Brookings, Oregon. She lived in Brookings during the summer months and traveled back to LA during the winter.

Soon after retirement Virginia was diagnosed with cancer. She fought the battle with surgery and radiation. Virginia enjoyed water color painting, art, loved her pets - dogs and cats, camping, traveling, visiting friends and her tools.
