Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating.

Viola Carlson was born on September 21, 1917 on a farm in Fenton Township, Murray County, Minnesota to Alfred and Alice Synnerholm Stoneberg. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Slayton High School in 1935. She then attended Mankato State Teacher College graduating in 1937. On January 23, 1948 she and Willard Lundblad were married at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, Minnesota. Following their marriage they farmed in Fenton Township and Viola taught school in Slayton, Minnesota. In 1977 they moved to Slayton. Willard passed away on February 25, 1978. Viola remained in Slayton and continued teaching at the Slayton Public School until 1983 when she retired. On October 15, 1988 she and William Carlson were married in Slayton, Minnesota. Following their marriage they made their home in Mankato, Minnesota. William passed away on March 17, 2012. Following his death Viola returned to Slayton and became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton where she passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the age of 95. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, did Missionary work and was active in W.E.L.C.A. Viola also was a member of the Chandler American Legion Auxiliary and served as past President. Viola enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, traveling crocheting and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her two sons: Dennis Lundblad and his wife Dianne, Pipestone, MN and Lenard Lundblad, Richmond, VA; two step-daughters: Nancy Bonkoski and her husband Neil, North Branch, MN and Patty Carlson, La Crosse, WI; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one sister Murial Erickson, Fairmont, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Willard Lundblad and William Carlson and one sister Edith Osland.

Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating.  The organist was Brenda Whitehead with special music by Monique Beaulieu. The pallbearers were John Engbarth, Jamie Engbarth, Riley Engbarth, Jim Oslund, Ron Fick, and Curt Strampe. Interment is at the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in rural Avoca, MN.
