Why I Relay:

July 17, 2013

Dorothy Jensen named honorary chair
I became involved in the American Cancer Society back in 1986 mainly because my mother had died from cancer when I was 19 years old. When the Relay for Life started in Murray County 17 years ago, I thought this was a great way to raise money to help fight cancer.

In January I got a call from Janet Voges asking me to be one of the honorary chairs at the Relay. My first answer was NO WAY. I have had many basal and carcinoma cells burned or removed over the years. They were usually a reddish rough area. I had three spots biopsy in September 2012. My dermatologist called and said one spot was basal, one was carcinoma and then I heard the word-melanoma.
