Memorial services were held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Andrew Vogel officiating.

David Streff was born on June 27, 1952 in Le Mars, Iowa Clifford and Mary Ann Hansen Streff. In 1958 the family moved to a farm north of Currie, Minnesota. Smiley attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Currie until it closed he then attended Slayton High School in Slayton, Minnesota. On March 30, 1991 he and Monica Johnson were married in Slayton. Following their marriage they made their home in Currie and Smiley drove truck for Schmitz Grain. In 1994 he and Monica divorced. Smiley remained in Currie and was currently working for Sweetman Sand and Gravel. Smiley passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakotas at the age of 61. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie. Smiley was involved with the 4th of July activies in Currie for many years. Smiley enjoyed visiting with friends, fishing, and dinning out. 

Survivors include his daughter Lacey and Andrew Dirks, Fulda, MN; his mother Mary Ann Streff, Fulda, MN; seven brothers and sisters and their spouses: Lee and Loretta Steichen, Alton, IA, Daniel and Raynata Streff, Lake Norden, SD, Richard and Becky Streff, Sedalia, MO, Keith and Patty Streff, Savage, MN, Cindy and Lloyd Lorenzen, Elk River, MN, Mary and Les Morin, Slayton, MN and Tim Streff and Byron Richard, Houston, TX and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Streff and niece and goddaughter,Billi Jo Cote. 

Memorial services were held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Andrew Vogel officiating.  The organist was Patty LeClaire. The song leader was LoAnn Hansen.  Interment is at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Slayton, MN.
