Norwegian immigrant compostitions in summer concert
The local Sons of Norway Lodge is proud to announce that it will be sponsoring a unique summer concert, The Life and Music of Theodora Cormontan on Thursday, July 18, at 7:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church, 906 Prospect Ave in Windom.

Musicians Michael and Bonnie Jorgensen from St. Peter had the special fortune to be given a box of old music a few years ago from friends. While searching through the box, they were intrigued to find more than 150 original handwritten compositions by Theodora Cormontan, who they had never heard of before. Upon further research, the Jorgensens found out that Theodora was a Norwegian immigrant who came to Renville County in Minnesota in 1887. She lived in Hanska, Madelia and St. James over several years, gave piano/music lessons and held recitals. But unknown about her was her many original scores of a variety of music that she had composed.
