Hassman has been involved with scouting for nearly 50 years. When you add his scouting experience as a child, along with the time he started as an adult leader in 1975, you have an individual who has been committed to the program most of his life. Hassman began his career as a youth in the Covered Wagon Council in NE Nebraska with Pack and Troop 149. This happens to be the Mid America Council now, located across the river from Lewis and Clark Scout Camp. In 1975, Hassman started as a adult volunteer in the Overland Trails Council in Nebraska, as a Webelo’s leader, and after about 6 months, he was “promoted” to Scout Master. In 1980 he moved to the Game Haven Council in SW Minnesota.
