drop season opener
By: Mark Zinnel- Buttermaker reporter

Hadley opened their 2013 Gopher League season on the road as they traveled to Heron Lake to take on the Lakers on a cool, overcast Sunday afternoon. With the chaotic spring weather, this would be the first time that many of the players had an opportunity to play together since the end of the 2012 season.

Hadley got on the board in the first. After Joe Larson flew out to start the game, Nate Wieneke was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a steal. Nick Brunning reached on a walk. Hadley then attempted a double steal which resulted in Wieneke getting thrown out at third. Max Zwart then singled to score Brunning from second. Zach Bruns then singled to load the bases. Jamie Boelter hit a slow roller to the Laker second baseman that he mishandled allowing Boelter to reach and allowing Zwart to scoot home giving Hadley a 2-0 lead.
